In November 2007 the BSA units in Carbondale joined together for participation in the annual Boy Scouts of America Scouting for Food Good Turn 2007 drive and collected over 9,600 food items, an increase of over 1,300 food items over 2006. Items were distributed to the Good Samaritan food pantry ran by the Interfaith Council in Carbondale. (http://www.cdaleinterfaith.org)

The Kaskaskia District of the Greater St. Louis Area Council collected a total of 35,859 food items, which were distributed to food pantries in the 6 southernmost western counties in Illinois.
