Scouting for Food 2008

In November 2008 the BSA units in Carbondale joined together for participation in the annual Boy Scouts of America Scouting for Food Good Turn 2008 drive and collected over 7,303 food items, about 2,000 less than in 2007. Items were distributed to the Good Samaritan food pantry ran by the Interfaith Council in Carbondale (http://www.cdaleinterfaith.org) and the Community Cupboard ran by Praise Central Church of Deliverance (http://www.feedingillinois.org/need/search.php?county=Jackson).

The Kaskaskia District of the Greater St. Louis Area Council collected a total of 35,137 food items, which were distributed to food pantries in the 6 southernmost western counties in Illinois -- Perry, Jackson, Johnson, Alexander, Union and Pulaski.
